Alert is requesting ‘Expressions of Interest’ from qualified and experienced researcher, with a experience in participatory and remote research methodologies (preferably in supervising and conducting research in the MENA region) to advise on research and M&E components of a peace education project in Syria, Lebanon and Turkey. The assignment is for up to 7 months, beginning September 2015.

Tasks will include:

  1. Input into project research methodology and M&E framework: Provide advice and review research methodology & M&E framework to integrate participatory and community-based research approaches into the research and M&E design. Advise on the feasible of access to and feedback with research participants.
  2. Develop a participatory research protocol and research tools: this will consist of a document that describes, in detail, the plan for conducting the research, including considerations of risk, quality and ethics, and research tools for researchers to conduct the research described in the protocol.
  3. Support/ co-facilitate training and capacity building on participatory research protocol and research tools: integrated into the overall project research methodology, this could involve training and be delivered virtually or in person.
  4. Support & accompany primary field research component: under the supervision of the Head of Research, working closely with the Project Manager and MEL Officer, monitor the research during implementation.
  5. Provide quality assurance and review of research analysis and outputs

As the assignment will be based remotely, in London or Beirut, with travel to Lebanon and Turkey.
