International Alert is looking for an experienced Peacebuilding Portfolio Manager for its DRC programme.

You will be responsible for overseeing International Alert’s (Alert) portfolio of projects in DRC and lead the development of new peacebuilding programme initiatives. You will oversee effective project management and will ensure coordination and synergy across individual projects, contributing to maximising the overall impact of Alert’s work in DRC. You will ensure that Alert’s contribution to peacebuilding in the DRC is strengthened, by taking responsibility for sound management of a portfolio of projects (through line management of Project Managers), by developing cross-programme learning and coordination, by providing quality control and support for M&E and by supporting relationship building and visibility for the programme. You will work closely with the Country Manager to lead the development of new projects, contribute to the identification of new partners and lead on raising funds. You will work closely with Alert’s Africa Programme (AP), including the Great Lakes Manager, and with other Alert departments, taking an active role in broader regional strategy and cross-programmatic activities.

Essential qualifications include a minimum of 3 years’ experience of implementing peacebuilding or development programmes in the DRC or in similar context, and a higher degree or equivalent experience in a relevant subject, for example sociology, anthropology, political science, international development. You will also have substantial NGO project management experience, including responsibility for strategy design, contract management and donor relations, as well as experience of leading peacebuilding-related programmes, and familiarity with conflict-sensitive approaches to development. In addition experience of developing and nurturing constructive relationships with local partners (governmental and non-governmental), is essential as well as excellent working knowledge (spoken, written and read) of both French and English.
