Senior Programme Design and Assessment Officer – Peacebuilding Issues Programme

Salary: £37,526 per annum, plus excellent benefits

Based: London

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic person to join our Peacebuilding Issues Programme (PIP) which provides ideas leadership and practical support on peacebuilding issues and methods inside and outside Alert. It specialises in research and advocacy, training and expertise on specific issues such as gender, climate change, governance, the economic aspects of peace, and on how international businesses and multinational organisations can better contribute to peace.

You will be responsible for providing leadership within PIP to design innovative programmes, identify and secure funding, and understand and improve existing programmes through monitoring and evaluation, allowing impacts to be easily communicated.

You will be adaptable, creative and innovative, tailoring your approach to the specific characteristics of each opportunity. You are knowledgeable about peacebuilding and international development; possess excellent writing skills, pay attention to detail and have a flair for grasping key ideas and actions through a combination of desk research and consultation with colleagues and partners. You will also have worked in the field, thus drawing on personal implementation and monitoring and evaluation experiences in designing new projects.

To be great in this job you are likely, first and foremost, to have a talent for working with others to develop, frame, communicate and fundraise for programmes that combine conceptual and practical innovation, and have a clear and measurable impact on peace. In turn Alert will offer you the exciting opportunity to be involved with developing and expanding our presence overseas and be part of a team of peers working to strengthen the quality and impact of our peacebuilding.

Note: The above are some of the requirements for the job. For the full job requirements and an application pack (the person specification section of which will form the basis of short-listing), please visit http://www.international-alert.org/jobs. In your application, please indicate the full job title of the role you are applying for.

To apply, please send a completed application form and equal opportunities form to jobs@international-alert.org , both of which can be found under ‘Downloads’.

Please note we do not accept CVs

Closing date: Sunday 9th November 2014.

Initial telephone interviews will take place on 13th & 14th November followed by face to face interviews scheduled for the week commencing 1st December.

While International Alert will endeavour to contact all candidates within a reasonable time, this may not always be possible due to limited resources. Therefore, if you have not heard from us within two weeks of the closing date, you can assume that your application has, on this occasion, been unsuccessful.
